So in this image you can see two levels of area plans. the parking area on the right wont take on a color (even though its a closed boundary), for some reason remains "white"

I am at a loss as to the setting or parameter that has this one different than before. can anyone point me to a couple ideas to get it to put the color tone back.

Thanks in advance.

edit: by the way, both have the same view template assigned to them. so all the VG and everything is the same.

Edited on: added stripped down revit file with both the views for parking areas still there. please let me know if you can help. :-)

Don't post files without saying what Revit. I fixed the file but it was upgraded so I won't repost it.  We have no way of knowing what issue you did it in.

Do you mean like the attached?

You need to put an area in there.  Color is controlled by the area type parameter.

Sorry of course. good call. its revit 2013,

the area is in there and everything. thats the rub, here is the original screen shot showing so. all the parameters are set I think.

the image shows two views, one that works and one thats not. both are set to the same settings and view template.

how did you fix the color issue on your end?

Thanks

michael

Now you've lost me....

In your original post, you said "...the parking area on the right wont take on a color..."  .   If you cross select in the model you posted, you will see that there are only two areas and they are both colored.   I added an area in the one hole.

Now you post two images, one of which you say works and one that doesn't.  If you are now saying that the problem is that area 5 is not colored, is it on in VG?  Model tab area/color fill

Your last sentence has it.

I have an area plan for each floor, and all the area plans work fine except for the parking area one. it simply doesnt get colored. Im showing the duplcate window because I have two views ( i know they seems like the same view twice)... AND they have the same view template applied to them. yet one will not show the color, while all the rest seem fine.  so changing to model shaded or VG doesnt work because thats all greyed out by the View template. You said you were able to "fix" it, (but the file was upgraded). What commands did you use to get it to work? There should have already been an area applied to the boundary so the color should be automatic.

edit: note the two area plans, groos building vs. rentable. its the gross building area thats missing color. the rentable one is OK. (those are the two views I show in the screen shot) they should be exactly the same.

I'm sorry but when I responded the first time, I thought I was in the view in question.  Again, please be more descriptive because I did not know what view was a problem and I only worked on the one level.   I think it was "the one on the right" comment that led me astray since you did not post images, only the project.

I had not done area plans for several years so I had to re-teach myself.  This will be a headslap for you.   From the annotation tab, color fill, add a color fill legend to your view.......    make sure it is the correct one.
