Is there a way to tell a new section to show up only in the view in which you first draw it? Otherwise, I find myself having to go through all other views that show that section and hiding it. Just occurred to me that this would be a very useful checkbox/option to have.

You can assign a project parameter to views then set up a filter to exclude sections/callouts that have that parameter set to whatever.
