For school my teacher is very adamant about using the parametric part of Revit. You can’t create walls in a family only extrusion and so I do. but I need the center line of the wall to move with the out side walls accordingly so that it becomes thicker also I need when I move an exterior extrusion for the perpendicular walls to move with it you know get longer or shorter depending. Spent about 3 hours trying to make this work but haven't had any luck. This is kind of an independent study course and the teacher doesn’t know enough to make it happen but wants me to figure it out. Any suggestion, other then Autodesk’s Revit training.

Why would you want to create a whole room as a family? If you absolutely must do so, make the family without the walls and add instance parametrics to reference planes.
Then draw your walls in the project and load the family in, then drag its length a width to match the room and lock them to the walls. Hopefully, when the walls move the family should flex...
Is this what you're after?
