Hello to all,

so i have already posted this thread but because i couldnt explain my thread properly I will give another go. So in the attachment you can see IMAGE 1 which is showing just random floor plan with plan region which has the same view settings as the overall floor plan.

IMAGE 2 is showing plan region with amended view settings which as you can see in the attachment affecting the overall floor plan.

IMAGE 3 is showing that the view settings for overalll floor plan are different from the plan region view settings but still is amending all the floor plan not just the plan region area.

MY QUESTION is why everytime i change plan region view settings it changes overall floor plan view settings??

MANY MANY THANKS FOR ANY HELP

Please - For major questions, always list what Revit and what updates you have installed.  The issue may be there.

I don't see any affect to the overall plan, only to the area in the middle, so lets just talk about that.

Are these Revit model elements that we see in these views or are they imported CAD? (Cad imports into families are still CAD imports)  What do we see here?

Tell us what that is!!!!   I've asked and you don't answer.

I also asked what updates do you have installed and you didn't answer that.

We can't help you if you don't answer our questions.  This area probably does not have Revit items and therefore doesn't obey the same rules.

Please find attached the about window to see which updates are uploaded if any.

All the stuff built in the middle (courtyard) are revit elements, no cad links, families.

thank you

You are missing 3 updates for 2014.  Start there and see if that fixes your problems.

We need to know more about the courtyard elements.

  • Are they grouped?
  • Is it all one family?
  • What family category are these?

COURTYARD:

1. they arent grouped

2. its not the family (just the top of the benches is family but i dont think that is the cause)

3. no families

- the green around building is topography and the internal elements are composed of the floors and walls

its just weird that why it changed view setting of the courtyard but the walkways and units (which are the revit links) remain the same

OK - What you have told us helps ....

The plan region is not really a vignette which is what I think you seem to want.  Here are the rules that affect you.

  • Not a vignette, so if a portion of any object is within the plan region that is also within the depth of view, then that complete object will show - thus your entire site will show.
  • Here is where this gets tricky.... Any object that is cuttable (not all categories are - walls, floors, roofs, ceilings are) will be shown cut (if the model elements are set to do this) AND will be cropped by the plan region (not all non-system families will crop)

Only if they are cut by the view cut will they cut by the plan region.  See images:

First view - first floor.

Second view - second floor with plan region low cut

View 3 - Second floor with higher plan region.

  • 2nd view - Furn - Casework, Site Category - shows in entirety if included in plan region.... second casework does not show, wall to right does not show
  • 2nd-view - wall and window cut by view cut plane are cropped by region
  • 3rd view - wall is no longer cut by view plane so entire wall shows and is not cropped!!!!
