So check this image. Ive set it to "shaded with edges". but its still B&W,
Note: when I set it to "consistant colors" it DOES show up.
Ive gotten the initial model from some HACK, and some of the settings are just nuts. Can anyone guess what it might be?

Check your properties for the element in quesion. Shaded color is set seperately from material color.

Thanks, but that didn't seem to be it. I did think up a work around. In the properties of the view that I like, I made a new view template. named it shaded...then went to the weird one thats all white, and applied the view template. that worked, now all back to normal. and I can unapply the view template and it stays with those parameters. After I went over the templates of the two different views ( I also made one from the "white" view to compare.) I cannot find one smidge of difference in my view templates that would cause the view to change, yet there was something there that I couldnt find.
TLDR: use "view templates" to fix the screwed up view, by applying the settings you know are good.
