Hi all,

So, the unthinkable has happened; my server crashed and I lost a lot of data. I've been able to recover a good portion of what was lost via various backup drives, but a single project folder remains stubbornly missing. I'm wondering if any of you have tips for recovering lost Revit files. My thinking for one strategy is that Revit automatically deletes old backup files. Could I, in theory, recover those deleted backups from, say, my recycle bin, or some such location? Does revit save tmp files somewhere where i can get at them? Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

This is an IT question for sure. I'd be very surprised if you can piece together a bunch of tmp files. The backup files have a 0001.rvt so I'd search for any RVT file. Servers should be backed up themsleves actually and that would normally be the obvious answer : )
