I'm trying to generate a ceiling plan using Plan View pull down menu. When I choose the appropriate view the view is blank except for my project grid lines. What am I doing wrong?

Do you have walls in your project that should show up in this view?

Are walls on in VG for the view?

What are the RCP viw range/cut settings?  << If you don't cut through the walls, don't expect to see them.

The VG for walls are checked in this view and the RCP cut settings are okay, I'm beginning to wonder if it's to do with the secquence of how the levels were set. I haven't inserted them all in order, is that likely to make a difference?

The order makes no difference.

I have a feeling you have not properly created your plan views and/or your RCP.  Use the tools you have been given.

If you just copy a level in an elevation or section view, you will see that the level head is black.  That means it has no associated plans and you have to create those from the View tab menu.  Never copy another level's floor pan and simply rename it to a new level because that doesn't work.

If you use the Datum tab, level creation and place the level, Revit will create the proper floor plans and RCP for you and the level head will be blue.
