I have been using Revit for a few years now and haven't yet found a great way to quickly get a project up and running with multiple windows on two monitors. I followed Itsmyalterego's advice on having the project browser and properties windows each straddle the center line of the monitors so that both sides are equal, but when I open a new window, it is very frustrating that it sizes it to something like 70% of both screens instead of just opening to 100% of one of the screens.
What I think would be REALLY easy to code and REALLY helpful would be if Revit had a built-in movable center divider that would allow you to divide the workspace across two monitors. That way, when you open a new view, it would simply open to the full size on either side of the divider. Instead, I have to resize a new window EVERY time. I know its a small thing, but the time adds up and it sucks to spend that startup time getting everything back up and running.
I am aware of SOME aftermarket apps that attempt to deal with this, but none seem to make it simple and streamlined. Any input/discussion/tips/commiseration welcome.
Thanks.

Our dual screen users have there systems set up so that when you open Revit, the ribbon and the view window are on one screen (full size) and the properties and browser are on the other screen (set size). No adjustments.

teafoe5: In my experience, the official wishlist is where good ideas go to die. It seems that third party applications are where innovation and useful UI design come from.
wwhub: I understand what you're saying, but that setup (unless you are using 30+" monitors) doesn't allow you to use each monitor for one whole view. Instead, it uses the second monitor as extra real estate for the properties and project browser. To me, the major benefit/potential for a second monitor is having two views up at once (first and second floor plan, for example) in their native horizontal aspect ratio, rather than cramming both side by side on one monitor in a pinched vertical arrangement.
What I'm hearing is that we aren't quite there yet with simple, flexible dual monitor support. I'm really curious how Autodesk employees work on Revit. It can't be with just one monitor....

I ran into a solution on revitkid. It involves installing two third party apps and configuration. I'm pretty computer savy but didn't dare attempting; it seemed pretty involved and complicated.
