Revit 2013

Is there a way to demolish wall layers, and not the wall itself? For example, we are adding on to a building that has exterior siding. The siding and plywood substrate would be replaced with gypsum board in this case. So, is there a way to show the siding/plywood only as being demo'ed?

I don't remember if 2013 has the Create Parts tool or not yet.  If it does you would need to select your wall and click Create Parts which will divide the wall into its individual structures (you cannot put it back once done however).  If 2013 does not have this you would need to create the siding/plywood as a seperate wall there is no way to only demolish a layer of the wall.

Thanks for the response. Yeah, that's kind of what I thought. I tried the parts thing and it gave an error saying parts couldn't be created for some reason. This happened late last night, and I didn't spend much time investigating the problem. We'll give it another look, and hopefully get the parts error worked out. If not, we'll have to create the seperate walls like you mentioned.
