I've put a bunch of work into making the default Revit receptical family work better for us by adding a bunch of parametric data that updates the annotation symbol appropriatly. Everything has worked great so far.

The piece I'm stuck on is trying to create a label to display the connected Panel and Circuit number so that as we circuit devices they get tagged appropriatly. But there doesn't seem to be any way to reference these parameters ("Panel" & "Circuit Number" from the Electrial - Loads group)

Is this possible?

I've attached my current family for reference. And a screenshot of the legend that might help clarify what I'm trying to get out of this family.

hi, just a suggestion...

i think the correct way is to "tag" the receptable. u can use the command "tag all" to your convenience

Try to export the parameters you want to use into a shared parameter file, then browse to that file inside the smart label dialouge for the tag that you are using.

Ronmalit,

I was orignally intending to avoid that; but I think you're right there isn't really a better way. It is just tedious to adjust the positions of the tags after they're all placed and I was looking for a way around it. After running through a floor though I see that if I had included the circuit on the symbol I wouldn't have the flexibility of the standard Revit tags.

blitz355,

Thanks for the suggestion, if I never need to do something similar I'll give it a try, but for now I'll just work with the Revit standard method.

to blitz:

i also havent tried to export shared parameter, and i think it will not help us on this issue: from the HELP

"You can export shared parameters from a family or a project to a new or existing shared parameter file. Use these steps if there are shared parameters in the family or project that are not in the current shared parameter file. "

to Indemnity: just to avoid manually encoding of panel and circuit in your current family...

-in exsiting family, you need to change panel and circuit parameter to shared parameter and load it to your project

-in your project file. create a schedule.

-you can use the add-in "BIMCoder Suites Schedule Sync". FREE!

-export your schedule to excel. and in excel your can force the formula: your shared parameter = system parameter.

-import back to revit. and it will update your schedule and label
