Hello,

I am using Revit 2014.  I'm wondering what is the best way to do lineweights in elevation view to get the depth of the building to read correctly.  I do not want to create transparent planes that cover up certain parts.  Right now, I am setting up filters for each elevation of the building that correspond to a project parameter within each wall, but am wondering if there is a simpler way to do it.

Thanks!

We use a combination of linework tool and we select areas that we over-ride graphics in view to halftone (basically 2 depths although the linework tool adds a little more).  Not a total solution but it works well enough.

Your filter solution sounds complicated.

Thanks for the reply.  Our office is trying to set up filters to where we can just apply the filter to any given view and the lineweights will show after assigning values to the wall. It is complicated, but we don't want to be drawing over lines.  Also the problem with the linework tool is that we don't what the line was to begin with.

We don't draw over lines ever anymore... Like most newbies, we did in the beginning.

Who cares what the line was to begin with?  You use the linework tool to give the line the weight you want for that depth.  We don't go crazy here - we only do edges of major planes like top of walls, where wall steps back.... We don't do other edges like widow outlines.

You can always start with the sillhoulette tool then modify.
