I've created a few nested fixtures and I am having trouble with scheduling a single family with different parameters. The best our BIM team could come up with was creating a dummy schedule. I've attached the file that I'm working with. I basically tried to follow the advice this thread, but I seem to bot be doing something right:

In order to schedule nested families, the nested family HAS TO BE SET TO SHARED.

Sorry but your last post does not explain your question.
Your question was: "I am having trouble with scheduling a single family with different parameters."
... Simply explain that.

hopefully my last post cleared up some confusion. every time I change a family type, it changes for all of that fixture type. the individual parts are Type and the combined family is Instance. if i change everything to Instance, nothing shows up on the schedule.

I highly recommend that you download the families guide from autodesk as it explains this process. Here is a clip of the appendix and the associated chapter that tells you how to do this.
