Hello

I'm wondering for double doors, how would I schedule two panels each of a certain size. For example our office standard for a double door of 1800 wide is labled as 2-900 in the "width" category, How do I get revit to recognize that I have two panels and say the same thing in my revit schedule.

Using Revit 2014

Thanks

This has been a problem from the start and there is still no automatic way to do this.  We have a pair category that we set but then we show have to show the leaf information in the remarks column.

Thanks WWHub

I saw another thread where you talked about your "pair category" and to be honest didn't understand how exactly it works, but it sounds interesting.

What about this idea, I set up a parameter that counts the number of "door panels" inside my family and schedules them. This column will be along side the "width" category which I shall re-name in the schedule "panel width". This way as a user I always insert the panel width I want and the family adjusts (double doors or whatever), the schedule will count the number of leaves and the contractor will see the width and number of panels in the schedule as well the graphic legend. So they will know exactly what kind of door they are dealing with.I've sold my boss on the idea anyway.

Now my question, how do I count the number of panels in my door family? They are nested door category families. So no mixing them up with hardware (which would be generic if I ever make them) What kind of parameter should I use and how do I apply it?

Thanks

I don't see a way to count the panels.

We have a project parameter applied to doors that is a yes/no.  We have a door width that uses that PAIR to calculate a new door leaf width.  A simple WIDTH(new) = IF PAIR (WIDTH/2), WIDTH.  This works on all doors EXCEPT unequal width doors or tripple sliders.  We are accostomed to this and we know the shortcomings so until we have a better tool, we are not changing.  Anything in the family requires that every family gets fixed and that can be a problem.

I see how you do it, thanks!

Can't count door panels? Pity, I thought I could schedule the hairs on my head if I could build the family.

I'm not suggesting you change, we are setting up office doors now so I'm building in what we need or hopefully I can add it later.

I should amend.... You can set a Value like Number of leafs.  But it would not "read" that value.  You could do like I did and make that be a project parameter if you don't want to have to fix all door families.

Sorry I'm not following you. what would not "read" number of leafs. What kind of parameter would that be? I just want to count the number of instances of a nested door family. The nested family is NOT shared.

I think I'm looking for a project parameter. Well as long as I can schedule it, I wouldn't mind having it a shared parameter.

The examples I've seen uses nested panels (and frames/hardware) in the door family and separate shared parameters for each leaf ("Width Panel 1" and "Width Panel 2".  The schedule then has two columns for width - one for each panel.  For single panel doors, the second column is blank, but for pairs this allows for differing leaf sizes.

I get around this by naming my door s single double etc.

then set up schedule by name and make it say what I want
