can anybody tell me how to cut sections of roof away after they have been made. I have two hip roof that merge into each other. One roof extends all the way through the other & about 3 meters into the middle of the other roof. The roof is seen from inside the builidng because it is a raked ceiling so I would like to stop the roof exactly where it meets the other roof. ive tried editing the roof but it changes the height etc. any help would be appreciated. cheers leeroy

there are more knowledgable ones who can reply, but as a 12 month user, doing renos, i have had to muck around with rooves a bit, so might have some help. i have found that joining geometry is helpful, or joining roofs. but another way is to edit the footprints until they work, and keep adjusting height. but why don't you try creating one roof? i must admit, i now use revit to solve roofing complexities while designing. it has created some amazing roof solutions, that are better than i originally thought of.

2 ways I have found that usually work. Tracing the joint V lines, cut a hole in each roof. The roofs will unjoin but the holes, if drawn on correct lines will give appearance of 1 seamless roof. The other is to redraw each roof, again tracing over the joint V lines (with no roof pitch on these lines) then delete previous joined roofs. For basic roof joins where angles are the same and levels the same, if the rear line of a hip roof is kept short of the roof it backs onto and then joined, it should not continue past the rear roof face.
