Does any one know how to connect a hyperlink to a family file, so when its in the project you just click the hyperlink button to the side of the rfa, and it will ring you to the submittal page for that piece of eqiupment?

I'm just doing some preventative maintance by, we have a CAD drawing that i'm going to convert to a rvt file, and our dimesnions are correct and what not in our CAD file, so if i could convert them to a rfa, and attatch a "hyperlink submittal" button it would update all of that instance in the newly converted rvt. Just want to see if even, in theory, this sounds possible before i waste a bunch of time on it, because it is a GIGANTIC project. Any information would be greatly apprciated, or what i might run into throughout the process, or even an alternative process. Please and Thank you.

You can add hyperlinks to families but you can only access them in the type interface while in the project.  That hyperlink however will not control any data in the family which is what I think you are asking for.

I see, that helps huge thank you. The Architect has revit, so they will be able to access them. So i'll just go into the rfa, add the hyperlink to it, reload it into the project, and they can acess the submittal through the type interface for the family, while they roam around the project. Cause all i need the hyperlink for is so they can have a "link" to the submittal direct from the project. sound good to you?

HUB, is there anyway to make a "CTRL+click" link someone can access once you click on the family instance in the model? like a rotate control, or something of that nature?

I would love a roll-over link.... but as far as I know, only the Type property link is available.

Have you looked at DWF properties?   Is the hyperlink more readaly available there?

Well, the situation is, we have already gathered all of the submittal pages, and place them on our network, and we have to provide them to our customer within out project. So with your help, thank you sir, on filling in the url parameter i knw i can get a website submittal, but i would like it to link our individual submittal page on our network. So i haven't tried it yet, but i believe i can type "FILE::///" before the adress to make that value ping to our own pdf, instead of going out to the web, but ideally i would like to try and replicate Navisworks idea, with a little control to the side of the family that you can just click on after you highlight a rfa. theres probably no way to accomplish that is there? i'm most likely just gonna have to inform them of the URL parameter value location, and call it that, eh? i mean its close enough, just was trying to reach perfection, but sometimes yaland in the stars when your trying to hit the moon.
