I started tagging the kitchen equipment and used multicategory tag. So when I started tagging furniture items i create a tag named furniture so it doesn't interact with kitchen type marks. But it doesn't work. When i type number 1 to an item it overwrites the number 1 item that i had in the kitchen.

Thanks,

We don't know enough about your tag, what parameter it is reading and what parameters are in your elements.

Are the elements seperate or are they nested in one family?

I see they are both family type generic model, so i thought of create a family type named kitchen and another one named furniture, so the tags will reconize they are different elements. but i don't know how to change this family type... is this making sense?

thanks

>Edit the family

>Under properties>Go to family category and parameters

>Go through the list until you find the type of element you'd like and click on it

>Hit ok

>Load family into project

That should do it for you.

palowe,

You need to spend some time with tutorials and written data on families and parameters.  I suggest you download the "families guide" from the autodesk site to start because it will give you fundamental knowledge.

Multi-category tags are just that.   They tag the same shared parameter that is added to families of different categories.  You said that your tag changed the value of other families.  That can't really happen unless all of your families are really just different types of the same family.
