I am currently trying to model the roof shown in the images without having to use modify sub elements. Is there any way I can use slope arrows or slope defining lines to make it, as I have to attach it to another roof, for a dormer cut and you cant do this if you have modified sub elements.

I can't see how I would be able to do it as one roof?

Maybe its not clear in the images but the roof that I am trying to model not only slopes towards the ridge but the ridge is also sloping up away from the building. I can make it slope to the ridge but its the sloping ridge that I can't work out.

Look at the following images.

  1. One roof sketch that uses the edges to define the slope so that the point is where it skould be.
  2. An in-place family, roof category, is sketched to cut the roof to the correct place.
  3. The final 3D.  Note - yours said tiled roof.   I used shingles.  You will have problems at the eaves with tiles because you will be cutting them at the eaves, unless you somehow skew the tile which does not work.
