We are doing a job with alot wall types that are furring varying surfaces over existing walls.  in thin line format that looks like this, makes perfect sense:  http://screencast.com/t/hQ7EYH7kf3

In regular plot lineweights it's a mess:  http://screencast.com/t/9wxnRawn3xd

Can anyone suggest a method to control the lineweights?   Is there a way to hide spec'd layers of a wall?

How would you suggest doing this?

Why not use coarse wall settings, you can still have an interior fill for masonry?  Drywall and furring just doesn't work with smaller scale plots.

thats what I figured.  I still like doing the furring as revit walls new construction phase, and the existing walls as existing phase.  that way I can get quan schedules for the new work: we are a design/build firm.   I thought of making different existing wall types (wall type:  existing wall - core type / new furring and surface type ___ ) but it got messy splitting the walls up.  (existing wall ends here, new wall with this finish ends there, another finish ends there ).   I was hoping to control the display of furred out walls, hide some lines. No go.   I'll go with slightly sloppy looking wall line types and the wall type tags will tell the story.

You can use solid fill for new walls - no fill for existing - and different lineweights all with your phase filters.

For new furred areas over existing, I would use thin walls for the new.
