How do you host to a point?  It does not define enough to host.  You need a plane (or a line) which give you two directional locations.

Could you elaborate why I can host only on ref line and plane and not ref point?

Also, could you explain me how to host object to ref plane?

See attached.

Maybe you really need a face based family..... Use a face based template.

Selecting Face-Based Hosts from a Mass Instance

When updating face-based hosts (such as walls, floors, and roofs), you may find it easier to select the mass instance or generic model with which the elements are associated first, and then select the face-based hosts.

  1. In the drawing area, select any mass instance or generic model instance that has associated face-based elements.
  2. Click Modify | <Element> tabModel panel (Related Hosts).

The selection changes from the mass instance or generic model instance to the selection of face-based hosts.

The only line "hosted" elements are built from a line based template.

Why can't you place a reference plane and use that?

What is that object?  It would need to be a hosted family....
