I have a project that Im aboiut to start from scratch and the architect is using Revit 2012 and we have 2014 and we want to Copy/Monitor the walls, can I Copy/Monito using different releases?

Did you try it?  When you link in a Revit model from a different Release such as 2012 to 2014 it will upgrade the 2013 model to 2014.  You can Copy/Monitor from 2012 to 2014 it appears however everytime you open your 2014 file it will re-upgrade the 2012 linked file which can be very time consuming depending on how big the linked file is.

Well thanks that helps, and yea I'm sitting here waiting for it to upgrade it and its been like almost 15 minutes.

If you are going to link in a lower year revit model, always upgrade that first and save it to your project file.

 

However, I'm not sure with any changes made to the monitored file.  It may be you lose the monitor link.  This is wht all parties should be on the same revit release.... established ahead of time before doing any work at all.
