Is there a way to make a line based wall rebate family (please see attachment) that cuts the wall when loaded in the project ? Ive made a line based void family but i cannot get the family to cut the wall when loaded in the project.
Thanks

Why are you not simply using the wall reveal tool with that profile?
Don't complicate this.

Then just do an in-place (void) sweep and sketch the path .... again using that profile. Forget the line based in this instance.

You can create a face based family just like your in-place family that is a void sweep (or extrusion) that cuts the host.... Use the face based template. Create the void sweep and set it to cut (pick) the host in the family editor. You can add parametric controls to this.
