I'm having a problem with the walls in an architect's model. I'm new to architect's models that have stacked walls in them so keep that in mind. In the architect's model that I have loaded into my structural model I have found that the architect has a stacked wall modeled and a basic wall modeled in the same place. Is that common that a stacked wall and basic wall to be modeled over top of each other? The basic wall has the concrete masonry unit dimensioned at 11 5/8". The stacked wall has the concrete masonry units at 12". The architect's model is loaded in my structural model and when I snap a dimension of the concrete masonry units I get the 11 5/8" dimension because I'm snapping the basic wall. When I open the architectural model by itself I snap a dimension of 12"because its snapping the stacked wall. This is a problem that the architect needs to fix, correct? Both their stacked and basic walls dimensions should be consistant?? We need to center our grid lines in the cmu walls so we need to get this resolved. I'm using Revit 2014. Thanks.

I have no idea why the architect would have 2 walls right on top of one another.  He could have used a generic wall at the beginning of the project and then changed it after the fact to a more complex wall but it still should not be one on top of another.  You could also shut the wall that you do not want off in the link of your project.

In your structural model, you should really be copy monitoring the architectural wall and using your own wall type for structural which may only have the structural component.  << You can specify what wall type to use when you copy monitor.

If they have two walls in the same location then that should be fixed by the architect.

Even though block is 11 5/8", a block wall does not lay up as 11 5/8" so that is an error in thinking.   Individual blocks are not laid up perfectly.   Convention is a 12" block wall is dimensioned as a 12" wall and they have always been hand drawn that way.
