We show two area values on our tenant plans- the actual square footage XXX and the lease value (XXX). In the schedule we are trying to calculate the difference between the two: actual-lease value.

Currently we have the lease value as a text parameter so we can enclose it in parentheses. This creates a problem however, because if I'm understanding formulas correctly you can't calculate with a text parameter.

Any ideas for a way we can calculate the difference and still display our areas the same way? All help is appreciated!

You already understand you can't use text.... but you can have two columns either side of your number that have no header and show your ().  Or you can have another hidden column that is a number used in your formula.
