Hello,

I am using Revit 2014.  I am trying to change the scale of a hatch pattern in my section views.  I'm not sure if it's a progrm bug, but sometimes when I change the line spacing, it will affect how it looks in the section view.  Other times when I change the line spacing, it doesn't change anything.  Is there a limit to the line spacing?  I am using a repeating detail with the brick section and changing the hatch pattern in the family.  Even when I change the view scale of the family to the same as the wall section, they still look different and the section will not match the family.

Thank you.

From your HELP: Drafting Patterns

Drafting patterns represent materials in symbolic form; for example, sand is represented by a stipple pattern. The density of drafting patterns is fixed with respect to the drawing sheet.

Thank you for the reply.  But I don't understand why the density of the lines don't change when I change their spacing in the family editor.

The project rules..... If the pattern is in the project then that description is used.  To define something different, you have to use a unique name.

I did that already.  I duplicated the diagonal hatch and renamed it brick.

As I said.... THE PROJECT RULES.... once a pattern (or material) is defined or loaded into a project by way of a family, the the project dictates how it is displayed.  You can change it all you want in the family and it will not change a thing in the project.

So what do you recommend?  You had said "To define something different, you have to use a unique name" - how do I do this?

"Brick" sounds like a hatch you would already have in a project so that might be a bad use here but if it isn't, then delete your family from the family browser in the project and all instance then delete the drafting pattern called brick in the project and re-load your family.  Now you have redefined it in the project..... Or give it a new name in the family and then load it.  But then know - the project will rule once again.
