I have a rectangular fire stair shaft that spans 12 levels. On each level, I'd like to add a stair landing (made from a custome floor), but when I draw the landing inside the shaft it doesn't show up because technically the shaft opening is cutting through the entire landing. Is there a setting I can toggle on the landing so that it is unaffected by the shaft opening?

Normally, I would just draw the shaft opening in the shape that the stairs and intermediate landings would occupy, but the floor heights differ from level to level, so the stairs differ, too.

I really don't like shaft openings so I just add the opening to my floor sketch.

"I really don't like shaft openings so I just add the opening to my floor sketch."

That's fine as long as you don't have to move the stair shaft in the future. What's great about shaft openings is that you can group them with the stairs, so if you ever have to move the stairs, the openings move with them. I just hate when I have to make multiple different shaft openings for one stair shaft.

So, is there any way to create a floor that can't be penetrated by a shaft opening?

I'm having the same issue with an 11 story building.  There are different level heights, therefore there are different numbers of risers between each floor....therefore the opening at each level is different.  I'm thinking that I can stack 3 shaft openings on top of each other to account for the different shapes....  1st-2nd floor is height #1.  2nd to 5th floor is height #2. And above would be height #3.  Not elegant, but maybe I can group the stacked shafts?

Why use shafts?????  Just edit the floor sketch and use the walls to define the sketch.  You can copy the opening portion of your sketch to the other levels or the entire floor where appropriate.

I agree with WWHub. Its much easier to just sketch the opening.
