I have a self made Thermomter for Mechanical pipe. I have two nested families inside one host families. The Host family being the stem with the connection placed onto it, One Nested family being the swivel nut in three different locations, and the second nested family being the display. Once you place it into thee project you connect it to a O-let, and yi have a drop down parameter being the straight swivel nut, another being the 45* rotated swivel, and the 90* swivel. The only thing i am missing is a rotation control for the display so it can rotated so that someone standing to the side of the pipe can see the thermometer. BEcause once you place it in the project it doesn't allow you to rotate it. SO... does anyone out there know why it wouldn't let me rotte the family? or how to place a control in the family to allow my\e to rotate the display 90*?? please o please. i've gotten this far... ugh. lol. plz and thank you.

You rotate family elements by rotating a reference line in the family that the item is referenced to.  The best way to understand this is to download the "families guide" (written copy - 2010 I think) and look at how you handle a door swing.

Appreciate that, really. Hub your the greatest! I found out why i didn't have the rotation control in project, and it was because i didn't have the catagory set to "inline sensor" because my workplane is't defined in the model, so any one can place it in any view. because before i was having issues with placeing it in a section view, but its all sorted out, and next time i'll follow procedure. =). thx again. oh and happy VD lol.
