So you created a void family then loaded it into a project to cut a wall?

Once you created the void and inserted it into your project did you use the Cut Geometry tool? In the Family Category and PArameters did you check the box for Cut with Voids When Loaded?

A void family?

In order for a void family to work, it needs to be hosted.  So your best process is to create it in a face based famil so that it works on any surface.  In the family, pick the void and set it to cut the host.

Setting the family to ''cut the host'' is not enough, you need to, after having the family loaded, go to Modify tab/Geometry/Cut Geometry, select the host and the family so to have the desired cut effect.

fotio,  there is no need to do what you say.  If the family is built to cut the host in the family, it will cut the host automatically in the project.

when you insert the family, you have to set the parameter (in the properties dialog) that defines the depth of your void (or whatever parameter you assign to the void) BEFORE you pick the intended possition, because it starts in 0.00.
