We need a linear light fixture to cast light like in the attached image.

I first tried setting the light source to rectangular and spherical. But don't know why, the light fixture is not lighten up at all.

Then I tried to borrow some ies file, but the rendering doesn't look right.

The light source just sets what light is emitted. If you want the fixture to render as lit, you have to set the outside material to glow.
