Is there a way of testing the current view, like when in 3D, for use in a parameter?
Perhaps I haven't thought this one through yet...
Let's say I have a door family with an adjustable swing. The door panel element (another nested family) is a 3D extrusion.
The door panel flexes with a parameter for the swing angle, and for my purposes I want this for 3D views.
But I also want to just see the door extrusion in a normal orthographic position for elevations.
The usual approach is to flex the door panel graphic in Plan/RCP only, using symbolic lines. A 3D door panel would typically be set in the wall opening as closed (0 degree angle). But as I mentioned, I want to see an open doorway in 3D.
So (not being very clever), I'm thinking I can have two 3D door panels. One closed, and one flexing with the set swing angle. And I'll alternate the familiy visibility settings ... but wait ...
Visibility settings for the extrusion allow me to control in what view aspects the door panel element will be visible, but the visibility dialog says "Display in 3D views and:". Sure enough, I see both (duh) in 3D with no way to "turn one off".
That's why I'm looking for a parameter to test the current view, and if 3D, then turn off visibility of the family element.
Has someone found away to acheive this (and better)?
