I have two stair sections that are identical. How can I reference the first stair section to the second set of stairs? This is a "SIM" situation.

When you cut your second section, use the reference other view from the options tab and pick the first section from the dropdown.

Not to be dense, but what options tab are you talking about? I've clicked everything I can think of and don't see it.

I see the green bar, but the modify/views is greyed. The offset dimension pops up and disappears very quickly. Is there something that has to be checked to activate the bar?

I try very hard to write my answers clearly and succinctly.  The least you can do is to read them completely.

I wrote:   "....When you cut your second section, use the ...."  I said nothing about view properties or modifying a view.

We used to joke around here about the options bar .... nobody pays attention to it initially .... but it changes with every operation so PAY ATTENTION TO THE OPTIONS BAR!
