Is there any way to set a transparency for a masking region? I know for filled regions you can select the background to be opaque or transparent, however you cannot fine tune the percentage of opacity, like what is possible with Autocad.

I am trying to fade back the interior of my building to highlight the hardscaping on the sheet. I would like the interior walls and furniture to be faded back to achieve this..(and I do not want to override visibility graphics for the elements either, because of existing dependent plan views on other sheets)

Thanks

There is no such setting in Revit.

Why would you not use the over-ride graphics "IN VIEW"....Doesn't affect other views except dependent and your masking region would affect those as well.  Perhaps you should be using a different view rather than one that has dependent views.

I was trying to use a masking region so that 'hopefully' I could easily adjust the transparency values on the fly as I experiment with the line weights out of the printer. I was trying to avoid override 'in view' because the floor plan has lots of elements that would have to be selected and changed everytime if I wanted to experiment with opacities 25%, 50% and 75% for example. Whereas with a masking region, I was 'hoping' to just have the one element to select and change settings.

Thanks for your advice, I will duplicate with detailing instead of as a dependent!

Also, im not really a revit newbie, just a revit city forum novice. Is this thread correctly placed?

I moved the thread but that wasn't critical.

We use worksets and filters to help control things like this.  Your interior walls could be on a seperate workset from the exterior shell and furnishings should be a controllable category by themselves anyway.  No reason to do these one at a time.
