Please see attachments, I'm in a elevation and I have added a detail section through the wall and columns. When the I go to the View I can see the columns in the course view but when i switch it to medium or fine the columns disappear.
Can any 1 tell me why this happens ??? and also are detail sections supposed to be used this way ??

Are you cutting your elevation to show a floor plan view? This is not good practice. Just create a plan view and you should have no problems seeing your columns. Then from your plan view you can create sections and elevations.

I have no problems cutting a plan section from an elevation view. Did you cut the section and then rotate it?

Is this a custom column? Try using an OOTB column and see if you are having the same problem.

You will have to load your family because the stock family works ok.
Also check your VG.

I am having this same problem but I haven't seen a response from the originator showing their problem was resolved. To create a new plan view for every one of my working views is not a viable option. As described in the original post, the views are created from elevation views and in course view, the structural columns are visible. When changed to medium/fine, they disappear. It is an incredibly frustrating experience. I am not looking for a workaround ("Create a plan region from your plan view instead"). Does anyone know what the solution is?

Did you follow through this thread? The problem may be your family settings as I explained earlier. Please give more information using images.

Hi Hub, yes, I did follow through with the thread--I would not have posted otherwise. The original poster did not respond that their issue was resolved so presumably the original poster also went through the thread and was not able to resolve their issue. My only possible conclusion right now is that it might be the family, but not exactly the issue you might think it is. I tinkered with the visilibility settings of the geometry (Course/Medium/Fine) in the family itself to no avail. Interestingly enough, the geometry whose visibility is set to course in the Structural Column family is visible in the project, but that piece of geometry is set to turn off and another is set to turn on (the geometry that more closely resembles the HSS member) when I set it to Medium/Fine, but this isn't happening in the project after I update the family and import. I can't figure out why.
I ended up setting the view to Medium, but then using VG to turn my Structural Columns to Course, so that my columns reappear. It's so strange.

I have a user with the same issue. From and elevation view, we've cut a section looking down a column.
In the section view, the column shows up in coarse mode only. The beams connecting to it show up fine.
We've tried to change columns, cut new sections, experimented with section depths, etc. Nothing.
We're using Revit 2018.3.
