When using detail components for plywood or any material that has a pattern to it. The pattern always runs the same way whether vert or horiz or at an angle. and it stays at the same size no matter what scale factor. if i have a larger scale then the pattern looks to small. is there a way to adjust these items as they are placed or should I just stick to filled regions and make them using filled regions. that way I can adjust the scale and running direction of the pattern.
Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

There are two different filled region types in revit - 2d and 3d(model). 2D patters will always plot the same in scaled paper space no matter what the scale of the view is. 3D patterns always plot the same model scale. An advantage of model patterns is that they will rotate with the element.
You should assign model patterns to model elements like plywood in roofs/floors. The layers in the plywood hatch are symbolic of the layers in plywood itself but not necessarily the same number of layers. However, you don't want a 7 layer hatch in something that is really 3 or 5. We usually setup our model plywood hatch so it shows 2 layers in 3/4" material or less. I know ... it should be odd but 2 layers will show well at just about any scale whereas 3 will not.
