I'm trying to create a schedule that will calculate the total quantity of steel in a building. I can schedule the members and parameters that I want, but for whatever reason, I can't figure out how to calculate the totals.

The Autodesk help site describes "subtotals for those columns that can have them" - I'm wondering which parameters "can have" a total? I would guess that properties like length and volume ought to be able to have totals. Am I wrong? Am I just doing something stupid?

I've attached a copy of one simple schedule that I'm trying to throw together for vertical braces. I added a calculated parameter for the beam weight. I have selected "Grand totals: Title, Count and Totals" in the Sorting/Grouping tab, but I only see the count added up at the bottom.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

you have to select "Calculate Totals" as shown in the attached image.

You may want to relook at your formulas; your values for "Weight" seem quite extreme.

Thanks! I knew I was doing something stupid.

And yeah: there was a little confusion on the kips vs lbs in there... those factors of 1000 are always getting me down.
