Howdy all,
I am running Revit 2013 Architecture and something has happened in the last couple of days causing the program to run very slow, for instance printing to PDF(sometimes freezes) or saving can take up to 5 min and all commands are slow. I have searched throught the threads here and have found a few that are similar but the fixes havent worked. I have gone into Options and turned off hardware acceleration etc and checked the driver error . The driver gives me an error (attached pic) but I havent changed anything on my computer since I got it in 2010. Previously it has been running fine. The file sizes are all less than 50Mb. I have scanned for viruses and defragged the drives. I thought it might have been a windows update that has upset the applecart but I am unsure. Anyone else had this problem inthe last few days? or has anyone got any other ideas?
Computer stats are
Intel Core i7 cpu 920@2.67GHz
8.0Gb ram
NVIDIA GeForce GT 240 graphics card
64 Bit operating System
Running Windows 7

Anti-virus software can be a pain. Try disabling it (reboot etc) to test to see if there is any impact.
Lots of placed groups and Linked CAD files can also slow a project down.

Thanks DG, tried turning the antivirus off and no luck, the slowdown is not confined to one file it is every file and action involved with Revit. Have also noticed that the windows updates are failing to install as well so it might be time to call in the gurus to have an overall look at the comp. Will keep you posted

Use the Performance tab in Task Manager to see how your computer's CPU is being used by Windows and other programs running on your computer.
-
Open Task Manager by right-clicking the taskbar, and then clicking Start Task Manager.
-
Click the Performance tab.
Perhaps some task is taking all your memory and/or CPU.

Well I have no idea what was going on with Revit , so I removed the program and reinstalled it. It is working perfectly again.
It took less time to do this than all the stuffing around I did trying to figure out the problem. anyway happy Revit user again.
Cheers
Shawn
