I am having trouble with the linework reading properly. I link a CAD dwg. to my revit model and once its in my model the linework doesnt read as it does in autocad. I have dashed or hidden lines in my CAD plan and once I link it in revit they show up as solid. I am thinking it has something to do with the LTscale in autocad?

Linetypes are set by your import template.  Read this topic in your HELP:

Setting Line Weights for Imported DWG or DXF Files

You can over-ride these settings in VG of any view.

its not the lineweight that I am having trouble with its the linetype. for instance, I am linking a CAD drawing from a consultant and in the CAD drawing there are some hidden or dashed lines. and they read as so in autocad. once I link the CAD file into revit and view it in revit the hidden or dashed lines read as solid lines.

Look under the 'imported objects' tab in your object styles and make sure the linetype for the layer your dashed lines are on is set correctly.

Change it to a Revit linestyle that suits your needs.
