Hello there,

I already used the search (and google) but i can't find an answer to my specific question. The problem I have is to combine two gable roofs. They intersect each other, but i can't find a way to cut them off.Maybe you guys can help me out.

I've attached an image of the current file. In this one i have placed two seperate gable roofs.

Is there a way to get this thing right?

g'day there.

have a go at this.

in your site plan view ( i presume you can see the roofs-say in shaded view)

draw a reference plane where the 2 roofs intersect.

then its a simple matter to modify each roof to suit, using edit footprint.

unless your 2 roofs are constructed as extrusions, then do the reference plane thing then use

vertical opening under modify roof tools to do the same thing, only forming a closed line around the bits to remove.

cheers

Using a ref plane and the edit footprint tool didn't work for me, but using the vertical opening did!

Thanks!

I really don't like using the opening but if that works and doesn't create any other problems then fine.

The process I use is to join the two roofs.  Then in plan, you will see a line where they join.  Use that to draw your reference planes then redit the roof sketches to those reference planes.  This will work and you can then also edit the roof correctly where one roof passes under the other at the dividing wall.
