I'm doing material take-offs and generated a wall schedule that breaks out the gypsum board and framing. I have a column that gives me the area of one side of the wall. The problem I'm having is I can't total the area.
I tried to check the box labeled "Calculate tables" in the Format tab, but it is grayed out. I tried exporting to Excel, but the units came out in the format "XX SF" so excel reads the numbers as text.
There must be a way to get a total!

In your schedule under format for that column, remove the SF units.

Thanks, that solved my problem. But there was a little more to it than that. First you have to check-off the box that says "Use Project Settings." That allows you to enter "None" in the Unit Symbol drop down. But the key step is to click the box that says "Calculate Totals." You'd think it'd default to totals for items like area and volume.
