What is the best practice to model foundations on a sloped site?

1.       Create a level for each individual foundation (there could be at least 50 + levels as the site is quite steep) ?

2.       Have 1 main level i.e foundation level, and then just do offsets from that level for each individual foundation?

I am just looking for the correct way to model foundations in this circumstance

Thank you

DO NOT! make a level for each foundation.  You will have 1 level as you said and use offsets for the rest.

Number 2.....  It would probably best if the level was the lowest then all offsets are positive.

Thank you for your replies,

I’ve also got another similar question about beams,

If I was to model cladding purlins @ lets say every 1m, would I have a level for every cladding rail or would I just use offsets from the main floor level I.e 1st floor ??

Same answer... do offsets.   Reserve levels for main elements like floors, roof bearing, top of footing.  You can also use it for major elements that don't have associated plans like top of parapet.  Structural may use structural planes like joist bearing but again, don't use levels for individual elements or even multiple sub-elements like girts.
