If I build a 3d model in revit, is there any way to make the exterior finish in the exterior walls pass under the finish floor? . I mean, in the wall section the exterior finish (stucco or siding) would be from the bearing height to the ground (-8" or -12"Winking below the finish floor. Thanks.

you are referring to top and base extension distances. every element within a wall structure can have this applied to it, but we mainly use it for external finishes. go into your wall structure, switch to section view, and zoom right in on the base. select the finish, unlock it, save. then in your model select the wall and adjust the base extn distance. it should no longer be greyed out btw. help has a fair bit about this, and mr spot and others have written lots about this. maybe do a search of forums.

I realize this is an old thread, but my question is related.

How can we extend the exterior finish at the base of the wall to be sloped or angled in elevation view to follow a sloping grade?  I could make another wall with just the finish and place it in plan, then edit the profile, but it seems a long round-about way.

 Thanks for any other ideas!

yes old thread, but an important revit ability.  i was pretty sure wall base and top extensions do not work with profile sketches, but i just checked and yes that is true.  i often use just a wall as finish thickness, and join geometry, when i come across things like this.  is really quick!
