Hello,

I'm doing a landscape architecture model in Revit 2013 and has used floors to define different ground materials such as concrete slabs. Most of the materials have surface patterns. I've modified the sub elements to individual elevations for the gradings of the surfaces, and in plan view the surface patterns look "folded", the patterns change directions at split lines created by the different elevations. Is there a way to get the patterns to remain straight even if I change the elevations?

Sorry - no way to do this that I know of in Revit except to break up the slab into individual planes.

Thanks for the reply - would be a nice option to have. I guess it's also possible to create filled regions with the same shape as the floors and assign the right patterns to them, even if that's some extra work.

You do know that you can rotate model patterns for each section of the item?  In the image below, I rotated the left patterns but not the right.

Thanks, I didn't know about that (my pattern was a drafting pattern, too) but as my floors sometimes have curved edges the patterns act unpredictable (at least to me) when I rotate them. Guess I have to stick to filled regions for now, at least it's not all the floors that have patterns.

Material patterns should always be set as model patterns.  Your right, how can linear patterns work with curved surfaces?  They can't.  Put a brick pattern on a cone if you want to see something interesting.
