Hey yall,

We have linked our structural consultants file, however on our sheets, their gridlines extend past ours, even when i adjust the crop extent of the view. Is there any way to control the extent of just the linked revit files gridlines?

Do I have to modify structural's revit model to place their grdilines on seperate workset to be turned off when uploaded into our model?

Using Revit '11. Thanks yall.

yes you can do that to turn it off, however you will always do that if you will receive new file from them unless you ask them nicely to do the workset thing before sending out...

or another way, is to control it in VG (custom) inside link file and turn off the grids.

You can set up a view template that has their grids turned off and apply it to you view.

ronmalt,

I'm sorry but you are incorrect.  Linked model grids can be controlled (on/off) independent of the host model through VG settings.  This is best set in view templates but it can be done in indiviadual views.  Open the view and goto the VG settings/linked model tab.  Change the display settings from host view to custom and you will now see the VG for the linked model.  Turn the grids off there.
