I have a custom window that works just fine in my model except that it doesn't cut in plan.  I've read through similar threads addressing the reference level, view range, and Shared checkbox but my window continues to only display the top of the frame and not a section through the window.

The attached images show

-Window as it appears in the reference level under the family editor

-Window as it appears in my plan

-3d view of model for context

I have several comments about your family.

Why didn't you use the built-in opening cut instead of the void extrusion?  If you have only one cut required, the opening cut is a better solution.

Th item causing your visibility problems is the head extrusion.  You have that set to show in plan/rcp.  Turn that switch off.

And finally, you should control your window using reference planes, including horizontal ones at sill and head, then add your parametic dimensions to those planes.

You can learn more about better family building practices by downloading the "Families guide from the autodesk site:

http://images.autodesk.com/adsk/files/rac_families_guide_documents_i.zip
