I created a generic Roof Curb family for sloped roofs using Extrusion tool in the "Generic Model roof based.rft". I've also created some simple roof-based families for roof-top mechanical. The problem I'm having is that when I try to place my mechanical atop my curb, Revit doesn't see my curb as a roof so won't let me put my mechanical on it. In the family editor I tried change the Family Category to "Roof" but it wasn't listed. I looked to change my extrusion to a roof but don't see how to do that. Could someone please guide me home?

You should be able to just place your mechanical on the roof and offset it to sit on your curb.

Thanks for the thought. That's what I'm doing currently -- offsetting from the roof to adjust for the mechanical "sinking" into the curb. I was just hoping to do something cleaner.
