I was hired on a few weeks ago in order to help this company transition from CAD and into Revit.  In my past experiences with Architectural and MEP offices they followed the national cad standards.  However, with my new company they are using their own "look".  I would like to get your thoughts/suggestions mainly on using different fonts in Revit.

The company I am working for now uses a specific font in AutoCAD called "Archstyl". It has more of a "hand drawn" look and the owners like that aspect of the font and want our plans to look a certain way to "stand out" from others.

My question is:  Is there a way to get this "Archstyl" font into Revit without looking through thousands of fonts and finding something similar to use?  Has someone found a "hand drawn" style and is currently using it?  Should I argue to my company to follow standards?

Thanks for any help,

Dan

This is a conundrum  that many have faced before you.:

You must use a TTF font in Revit but if you use specialty fonts, you will have troubles with your outside printer and your consultants so beware!

I know this font well. There are TTF fonts out there that look the same. You just have to find one even though you don't want to.

It's not really a matter of not wanting to find the text.  -Although I did appreciate the link.  It's more of a matter of not wanting to send the text file out everytime a project goes out.

Reading through the posts in the link it seams alot more people atleast try to use their own texts than I initially thought.

Am I correct in thinking any Font not included with windows will need to be shared or given to other firms to make "our text" appear like it should?

Your thinking is correct ....and, as you probably read, there may be issues with PDF's.  We settled in on drab old Ariel and I believe you will find that most users did likewise.

It would be great if some users found a way to manage this problem and share that with others like you but so far, I haven't seen that posted here.

You are correct. That's why I wish they would hard code the fonts into Revit and not allow any other fonts.
