We are looking at doing a 14 story building, where we will do the plumbing only and will be doing clash detection with other trades.

In the past, even on simple 1 story, we have had issues with the plumbing not showing up very well on the floor plan, mostly in plumbing chases. where the supply and waste and venting are all crammed into the chase.

Is there a way to draw it so that it is physically there, so we can use the riser in a riser detail and do clash detection, but not show it in the plan view?

There will be hundreds of units, and looking to utilize groups if possible, and not sure if this helps or hurts.

Any ideas of what others have done would be appreciated.  I know there is more than one way to do it.  The floorplans will probably be 1/8 scale.  If I could manage 3/16 or 1/4 I just might.
