Hi. I am currently doing a project of a Malay house. Usually the house has timber planks as wall. Can anyone help how to create this? When I create small parts of wall and put together, the lines separating them do not appear. please help. thank you.

You don't do this as seperate planks.  Create a wall type and define the skin as your planks - as a material.  This is really no different than exterior siding.

I did not really understand how to do that. But furthermore, the size of each plank is different and the spacing between each plank is also different, and it needs to be seen. Is there any other way to do that?

You are still better off using a material.  You could assign a base material then add vertical void sweeps if you need the kind of representation you are suggesting.

3 things I would try,

First try what Hub sugests a materail map

Second, I would try a wall sweeps (see attached image)

Third, you split face on the walls and add material to each split to get your desired result

"Second, I would try a wall sweeps (see attached image)"

Depending on how big your project is and how many walls this will be used in it could really slow down your performance

"Third, you split face on the walls and add material to each split to get your desired result"

Again.. Depending on how may walls you have this could take a VERY long time to do.

WWHubs suggestion is your best solution I believe.

Yes, there are alot of "depening on" factors in this world, I figure a house can't be that big to slow down a revit file but who knows

I have modeled a 10k sqft log cabin with the sweep technique with no issues...

OP asked "Is there any other way to do that?"  just giving options the OP may never have thought about.

I have another question. It is regarding the roof. The traditional malay house used to have thatch roof. Any idea of how to do that? Thank you.

Thatch roof?  I would sugest learning how to do material mapping as mentioned by WWHub and teafoe5.
