I have a curved mass with a sloped top for under a curved stair. The mass is just a curved 1ft thick mass in the shape of the wall and there is one void cutting the part above the stair so that it fits under. 

When I do wall by face the wall is not cut by the void like the mass is, but goes up through the stair. It is as if the void is not even there, but only to the wall. The mass looks fine, but the wall will not work. 

I have tried using both inner and outer faces of the mass for the wall. Thoughts?
