I'm trying to create a custom fill pattern using a .pat file. I've actually created the .pat file by first drawing my pattern in AutoCAD. It's a simple stacked bond brick pattern with coursing. I use a program Global Cad Hatch Manager to then create the .pat file from my drawing.

Using the .pat file within AutoCAD works perfectly fine. I then edit the .pat file to have the proper Revit code so that it recognizes it as a model fill pattern. (;%TYPE=MODEL) This is the only thing I've added to the file.

Now when I create a new model fill pattern using that .pat file there seems to be two stray lines that are not in the pattern within AutoCAD. They are simply two 3/8" (same distance as the mortar spacing) lines that are perpendicular to each other and at the corner of the actual bricks.

I've attached an image of the pattern within Revit as well as the actual pattern file.

I'm pulling my hair out here. I can't figure out what is going on. This is happening in every pattern file I create this way. I'm starting to wonder if there is some weird line of code that Hatch Manager is adding that AutoCAD isn't reading but Revit is.

I have seen some of these CAD generated patterns not work in Revit before.  There is a free hatch making program that works out of Revit I think - search the forums.

BTW - Patterns like this are relatively easy to do if you already have a similar one.  It takes a little while to learn how but that time is well spent.

I'm biassed, but if I wanted a hatch pattern, Global Cad Hatch Manager isn't where I would start.

Your pattern contains 12 very short lines as well as the 12 that make up the pattern you want and if you did not create them explicitly then Global Cad Hatch Manager has gratuitously added them. Revit expands very short lines to a minimum length on loading so producing the extra "ears" you see within the pattern.

Try this pattern of 4 elements:

;%VERSION=3.0

;%UNITS=INCH

*BRICK MODULAR SOLDIER STACK C 2

;%TYPE=MODEL

I just ended up going the Hatch22 route. Works perfect. Thanks for the recommendations!
