I have a 2x2 ACT ceiling in which we are inserting 4'x6" lighting fixtures.  Every where the fixtures are placed, two pieces of grid spaced at 6" flank the light and run the length of the assembly (see jpg attached) with 2' panels contiued on either side.  I don't know how I would accomplish this with a simple model pattern on the ceiling face, being that the 6" strips aren't always in the same place.  I've created the effect by making multiple ceilings, abutted everywhere I need the 6" strips (see selected portion highlighted in blue in the jpg).

Does anyone have a suggestion on how to create this without the multiple ceilings for one assembly?

Thanks.

why don't you try with slice face?

in sliced face, you can reorganize pattern alignment or angle. and you can use two or more materials on one object.

watch this for refference.
